About Us
Empowering Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities through Sports
Bihar Special Olympics is the officially recognized state chapter of Special Olympics Bharat, working to uplift individuals with intellectual disabilities through the transformative power of sports. Established on 15th November 2000 by Dr. Shivajee Kumar and a dedicated team, our organization has been at the forefront of inclusion and empowerment for over two decades.
We provide year-round sports training and athletic competition across multiple Olympic-type disciplines for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, helping them discover their potential, develop confidence, and gain respect within their communities.
Through strategic outreach, capacity building, and partnerships across the state, Bihar Special Olympics ensures that even those in the most remote areas can access inclusive sports opportunities and social support.
Our Mission
To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
